Players describe what "Safe Softball Sucks" means to them

 

 

Safe softball sucks to me means that we are willing and not afraid to take risks. 

1. We will go for the lead runner always.

2. We will layout for all and any balls necessary.

3. We will throw behind runners.

4. We will take extra bases.

5. We will throw down two with runners on first and third.

6. We will bunt with 2 strikes.

7. We will go for the strikeout instead of the ground out.

8. We will throw a change up on a 3-2 count.

9. We will steal home.

10. We will challenge any team out there.

It means be aggressive at the right times, be different from other teams, be confident to take risks because you know you won't be yelled at if you have a good reason for what you did, be unique, and give 150% everytime you step on that field.

What I think safe softball sucks means is to play softball aggressively and not to worry about the outcome of that play after a difficult play is made, for example throwing behind the runner. Softball players have a tendency to not to throw the ball behind runners that are taking big leads rounding the base after a hit is made because of the fact that they are afraid of over throwing the ball and what others would think if she makes a mistake. Softball players that are not willing to take chances of making difficult plays and are worry of making errors on the field when there is a difficult play are players that follow "safe softball", unlike softball players that do not worry of the bad results that may occur after the difficult play is made and are willing to take risks and chances are players who follow "safe softball sucks".

What is safe softball to me? Well its simple. Its playing with no regrets. When you step on the field nothing else matters but you and your teammates. Doing whatever it takes to win the game is key. Yeah people say its not all about winning and losing, but when you know you played as hard as you could and did everything you were capable of for your team, it makes That win much more satisfying. Safe softball isn't just about throwing behind runners and doing what you've learned in practice. Its about taking that and making it into so much more. Its about playing games inside games. Not only out playing your opponents, but out smarting them as well. Safe softball is simple girls, you don't think and just do. You don't ever hold back, and you believe in your teammates. You're all wearing the same jerseys for a reason. You all have the same goals. You leave everything on the field from the moment you step on that dirt. If you're ever in doubt of what you're doing, just look at your sleeve. It reminds you why you're trying so hard in the first place.

Safe softball sucks means to me that you are never afraid to take a risk for your team in order to win. You sacrifice your body in any means necessary to knock the ball down to prevent a runner from advancing or scoring, meaning diving in the infield and outfield. That you have confidence in your teammates, regardless if you love them or hate, on the field at all times to have your back. You know that they will be there to cover the base on double plays, be there to catch the throw down and pick off a runner. You are there for each other to cover each others holes and communicate out on the field as a whole team to preform the things we work on in practice. That means being able to do rock-in-fires, pivot throws, throwing behind a runner, having pick off plays that only our team understands when we are out on the field. You don't play it safe and go for the easy out. Instead you are not scared to take out the lead runner.  It means that you will take a pitch when you are up to bat and run down the base line ready to go to second base if a runner is on third. When you are on first and there is a runner on third you take a ginormous lead and get in a run down as long as you possibly can to that runner home. At bat you are doing whatever it takes to advance that runner or get on base. Safe softball sucks means that at the end of every game you know that you gave 200 percent effort, intensity, dedication that you, the coaches, and your teammates deserve. At the end of the tournament you worked your ass off harder than any other team there and your blood, sweat, and whole heart was left out on the field that day for the respect and love of your team and for the game. That is what safe softball sucks and the bash mean to me.

Safe softball sucks... Three words I became accustomed to very quickly! Safe softball sucks also means that you never play any game safe that you strive every game to go above and beyond. Going above and beyond means that you make extra throws and take risks because you don't just want to make average plays you want to be spectacular! To be able to not play softball means that you have to have confidence in yourself that you believe you can make that tough throw to the inside knee because the payoff would be much better than being scared or just an average player. Safe softball sucks aren't just words they carry a swagger and demeanor and to be able to achieve safe softball sucks you have to carry that swagger and demeanor! These words are on every jersey and you will hear them so many times but don't just read them believe them because if you believe them you won't just be ordinary but extraordinary!

To me safe softball sucks means to never play safe mentally... You need to overcome all obstacles in this game mentally to do take them on physically. For example, throwing behind runners is the biggest one. When Everyone else knows that your arm is good and that you can hit that spot so just tell yourself you can and let it go. The mental part of the game is the most important, having the confidence to make those clutch decisions in tight situations is huge. Also, it means to just take chances (Smart ones that is). When your on the bases and you see that ball in the dirt or a change up, don't hesitate just take off to he next base... You'll never get in trouble if you have a good reason and you went 100% all the way... This is your game play for your team... play hard and leave it all on the field every game!!

To me, safe softball sucks means that when your in practice you give it your absolute all so that when your in a game you can take risks that other teams aren't ready for.  It  means be aggressive, even if you overthrow a ball, just try. Throw behind the runner, risk a run for an out because you know that you will get 2 runs back, and try to make plays that other teams wouldn't even think about making.  It means laying a bunt down with 2 outs because your confident you can make it to the base safe.  It means not hesitating on any passed ball and stealing the next base.  It means stealing a base even if there isn't a passed ball.  Safe softball sucks is taking advantage of the other teams weaknesses and flaws.

To me, Safe softball sucks is not only a phrase you hear in softball, especially on the Bash but it's an action that is executed through a person's actions that show confidence and skill. Safe Softball Sucks means not being afraid to take risks, but throw the ball behind the runner to try and get her out. Being aggressive yet being smart on the bases. Safe softball sucks is accepting nothing but perfection and always thinking 3 seconds ahead to get the next out.

To me "safe softball sucks" means that in order to win we need to take chances. We have to work hard and have trust in ourselves and our team, in order to perform. We need to know that at any given time someone from our team will be there to back us up, catch the ball, and make outs, in order for us to make risky plays. Because if we play softball on the safe side there is no chance in us winning. We need to play to the best of our ability and take those extra outs and risks in order to be good. Safe Softball Sucks means that no play is impossible as long as we have trust in ourselves and our team.

Safe softball sucks means that if you play it safe it won't get you anywhere. You need to push your self in practice to do things like throwing behind the runner so you can do it in a game without hesitation. This will set yourself apart from players on other teams who think the play is over and just throw it right to the pitcher. I want to strive to not play safe softball.

Safe softball sucks means that to be successful you need to take risks to do more after the first play is over. In order to take risks though you need to work hard at perfecting all the skills and always hustle and strive to be better.....Mel

To me, safe softball sucks, can be defined in many ways. I see it as how hard you want to work to improve and compete at a high level and play aggressive. Safe softball is when you're scared to the throw the ball behind a runner, or when you don't want to take extra bases or even lay down a sac bunt. That's why safe softball sucks, because you're not taking a risk to win the game.

I think safe softball sucks, because when you are playing safe, you aren't playing as aggressive as you possibly could. When you play safe you don't take chances and that's what the Bash is about. Taking chances. Safe softball also sucks because I want to be the best softball player that I can be, and that won't happen if I'm playing soft and not up to my full capabilities.

What does "Safe Softball Sucks" mean?

It means never being afraid to make a mistake. To turn into that inside pitch and take first base. To throw behind runners, out hustle teams, and to catch you opponent off guard. To do whatever you can to win. It means never coming home with a clean jersey or nice hair. It means going hard every play and never holding back. It means never making the second mistake.  ..Safe softball is boring, and athletes play travel ball because they love softball. Why love something that's boring when you could make it exciting?

The main idea to me about safe softball sucks is to take risks, take a chance, and be aggressive. This idea will allow for us to not give up after part of a play, but rather finish the play and take advantage of others not paying attention. For example most teams would give up after a single is hit, but we will take advantage and throw behind the runner and get her out before she even knew what happened. As a catcher safe softball sucks is very important because i have to take chances and not be afraid to pic runners off or throw to get lagging runners out. Then on the basepath it has an effect and we will be willing to take chances to increase our chances of scoring. Overall i think safe softball sucks is a good thing to follow cause it gives us a step up from all other teams.

The meaning of safe softball sucks to me is not being afraid to take the next step of a play. To take chances other teams may not even ever think to take. Being aggressive and having the confidence in each other and ourselves that we can take the risks. Due to the amount of practice we have had over the years and our knowledge of the game we love. In my eyes safe softball means no regrets and no hesitations. If you feel you can get a girl out give it all you got and try your best to get better at something your not perfect at. You shouldn't let someone tell you you cant do something, even if you make a mistake or an error that should give you the drive to want to perfect that and not put your head down about it. Also if you see a situation while your up to bat or running the bases go the "extra mile" or "push the envelope" and be risky/live on the edge. Don't be afraid to do what your heart or brain is telling you to do.

Safe softball sucks means that we work harder than every other team out there and a play is never over until we say it is. An example i like that you always use is when you say how we should through behind a runner because there is always another chance to get an out. Having that written on our arms I think is a good representation of what the bash is about. Busting our booties at these practice that no one else has, doing OPI's!!! This is what the saying safe softball sucks means to me!
